Each material is selected for what it is, for what it tells, where it comes from,
and what it makes possible.
Select, transform, respect
The raw material of an EVI sneaker is, first and foremost, a hide.
A living material, selected with respect for what it is: its texture, its color, its origin.
All our leathers come exclusively from the food industry.
No animal is raised for its skin.
Once recovered, the hides are entrusted to specialist tanneries to be transformed with the highest standards.
We have chosen to work only with European tanneries, mainly in Italy, Spain, and France, selected as much for their know-how as for their commitments. All are certified by Leather Working Group (LWG) and/or ISO 14001.
These labels guarantee rigorous resource management: wastewater treatment, control of chemicals, and waste recovery.
We refuse the use of exotic leathers.
Instead, we have integrated more responsible and local materials, such as recycled salmon leather, vegetable-tanned in France. Its fineness, natural grain, and durability make it a precious and responsible alternative.
Before any cutting, each hide is inspected by hand and eye to ensure its quality, consistency, and ability to stand the test of time.
The Expression of the Material
Each leather we choose carries its own expression. A particular feel, a grain more or less pronounced, a natural light that reveals volumes or softens shapes.
Some hides stand out for their texture:
a smooth, clean leather, a marked grain, a dense suede, or a ribbed salmon skin.
Others for their shades: metallic shine, mineral tones, unexpected depth.
We select our leathers for this as well
for what they tell, for what they suggest, for the way they will bring forth a unique pair.
Originality is not something you look for; it is found in the right choice.
